THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - JULY 4TH FESTIVITIES

Jennifer Garrity - Dean's Team Customer Service CoordinatorWell it's the Forth of July Holiday weekend.  Happy Birthday America.  There is no doubt that downtown is the place to be.  What with the Taste of Chicago going on, you can enjoy many other activities and venues as well this weekend in our beautiful city.

Navy Pier is a great spot to catch the firework displays.  There are many way to enjoy the shows.  One is aboard the Luxury Fireworks Dinner Cruise.

Step aboard Odyssey and enjoy the skyline views from the comfort of your table during your two- or three-hour cruise.  Enjoy appetizers, along with entrées and desserts which are  prepared fresh on-board daily.  Drink award-winning wines and dancing to live music.

More info here.

Enjoy the festivities from another of Chicago's fine sailing vessels, the Tall Ship Red Witch, a traditional (wood) schooner off Burnham Harbor, which is in Chicago's Museum Campus (near Soldier Field).

Aboard the Tall Ship spend two hour sailings, followed by a great fireworks show just off of Navy Pier!  The boat leaves at 7:30pm every Wednesday and 8:00pm on Saturday.

For additional information or to make reservations, go on-line here.

If being on the water is not your thing, there are several ways to stay ashore and take in the festivities.  Why not go to the Grant Park Music Festival, located in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.

Shoreline Sightseeing will offer their famous Skyline Boat Tours from their Buckingham Fountain dock daily during Taste of Chicago. When Taste-goers need a break, they can stroll over to Shoreline's Buckingham Fountain dock for a relaxing and refreshing 30-minute Lake Michigan Cruise.

Tours depart daily with hourly service from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm (until 6:00 pm on July 6th). Tickets are available at the Shoreline Taste booth (near Congress and Columbus Dr.) or at the Buckingham Fountain dock. Fares for the special Taste Cruises are $14 adults, $13 seniors over 65 and $6 children under 12.

No matter what you decide, have a happy and safe July 4th weekend.
