TECHNOLOGY TIPS - GREEN TECHNOLOGY

Cathy Mallers PhotoSo I'm sitting here at the local Caribou and have had quite a difficult time finding a plug for my computer, which got me to thinking about solar power.

I did some research and there is a company called Voltaic which has the answer to this growing need.  As the use of many electronic devices continues to rise, not having to "plug-in" is going to be of great benefit.

The solar bags that Voltaic provides are designed to charge just about any handheld device.  The outside of the bags have solar panels which are lightweight, tough and waterproof.  The most impressive item in the line of solar powered bags is the generator which can put out 17 watts of energy.  All the bags come with a custom battery which stores any surplus power generated so it's available when you need it.

Voltaic bags use fabrics made from recycled PET i.e. soda bottles. We worked extensively with suppliers to develop these fabrics, since they were not previously available. Recycled PET fabric is light weight, extremely durable, UV resistant and water resistant. It even looks better than the nylon it replaced. Most importantly, it uses significantly less energy to produce and creates demand for recycled materials.
