LOGAN SQUARE

Second City e.t.c. always faces a tough challenge.  It has to be both edgy and experimental, keep up its image and outwit its competition.  With weekends bringing on sold out shows consistently, the general audience is looking to laugh hard and often all while maintaining the traditional Second City flair we Chicagoans know and love.

"Campaign Supernova," directed by the emerging Matt Hovde, is able to capture both sides of the fence while straddling the middle ground in a way that keeps people coming back for more.  The show is funny, offers fresh and new humor and maintains the balance for natives and visitors alike.  Click here to learn more about this act.

WEST LOOP

There are several good theatrical events playing in and around Chicago.  One in particular is The Master Builder: The experimental theater space in Chicago's West Loop presents,  Ibsen's classic deconstruction of craft, genius and ego. The performance will be playing through June 14 at The Building Stage, 412 N. Carpenter St.; $20, 312-491-1369 and buildingstage.com.  For other shows around town, click here.

LOOP

The Chicago Tribune's campaign to have the Children's Museum located somewhere other than Grant Park was recently applauded by some, however, the suggestion of another park does not lend itself to the spirit in which the protest started.

In this time of "Going Green," museum officials are leaning towards the advantages of having green space available for the children who visit their museum.  Their argument may be flawed in that they have failed to explain why putting another building in an already green space would be appropriate.

There are plenty of available sites throughout the Loop that would be suitable for a new museum building.  Click here to learn more.

NORWOOD PARK

Third-grade students, known as the Green Team at St. Monica Academy in Norwood Park, have been learning about recycling this year.  With recycling this year's theme, the students have gone through paper drives and a "trash audit" of a day in the life of the school.

They launched an environmentally-centered SEEDS curriculum last year, in partnership with the Chicago Botanic Garden.

EVANSTON

Evanston Northwestern Healthcare System may add Rush North Shore Hospital of Skokie to its three-hospital network after both hospital boards approved a merger recently.

Terms of the merger were not made available to the public.  However a letter was sent to the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board Wednesday informing them of their wishes to merge together.

"This is but one step of an extended process that will take several months to unfold," stated a joint press release from the two hospitals.
