CHICAGO MAIL DELIVERY SPEED IMPROVES!
OFTEN CRITICIZED FOR SLOW DELIVERY TIMES, MAIL MISHANDLING - 95% OF 1ST CLASS MAIL NOW DELIVERED NEXT DAY IN CITY, SELECT ADJOINING SUBURBS!
You sometimes here war stories on slow mail delivery. They range from the rent check that arrives a week late ("The Check is In The Mail," most tenants would say), to the letter from the World War II GI that just arrived.
However, according to a new survey commissioned by the U.S. Postal Service here in Chicago, the rate of overnight delivery of first class mail increased from 90% a year ago, to 95% through 2007. The survey covered the entire City of Chicago, plus six adjoining suburbs, all within the 606, 607, and 608 zip codes.
Two and three day delivery rates also improved for first class mail. No data was released by the Postal Service for other types of mail - Express Mail, Priority Mail, or Parcel Post.
