CHICAGO SPORTS BLOG - 2008 BASEBALL PREDICTIONS

Jeff Ardito - Dean's Team Listing Specialist!TIME FOR MY BASEBALL PREDICTIONS

Well, the 2008 Major League Baseball season is here and I'd like to present my predictions:

American League

East

  1. Boston Red Sox - They know how to win.
  2. Toronto Blue Jays - Could be much better than people think.
  3. New York Yankees - Girardi isn't Torre.
  4. Tampa Bay Rays - The Orioles are that bad.
  5. Baltimore Orioles - No hope.

Central

  1. Cleveland Indians - They're good and hungry.
  2. Detroit Tigers - They'll be in the hunt all year.
  3. Chicago White Sox - They need help in their rotation.
  4. Minnesota Twins - It will be hard to replace Santana.
  5. Kansas City Royals - They have some hope for the future.

West

  1. Seattle Mariners - Like the chemistry of this team.
  2. Los Angeles Angels - Hunter could make a big difference.
  3. Texas Rangers - Short on Pitching.
  4. Oakland Athletics - Can you say rebuilding?

National League

East

  1. New York Mets - They have Santana.
  2. Atlanta Braves - Any reason to think they won't be in the hunt?
  3. Philadelphia Phillies - Good team that will be very competitive.
  4. Florida Marlins - Starting Pitching will be weak.
  5. Washington Nationals - Not ready to contend.

Central

  1. Chicago Cubs - Strong, deep bullpen.
  2. Milwaukee Brewers - They will score a ton of runs.
  3. Cincinnati Reds - Dusty Baker?????
  4. Houston Astros - Can Tejada regain form?
  5. Pittsburgh Pirates - Gorzelanny will have a nice year.
  6. St. Louis Cardinals - Not very deep.

West

  1. Colorado Rockies - May win it all this year.
  2. Los Angeles Dodgers - Joe Torre will make a difference.
  3. Arizona Diamondbacks - Boy, if they were in another division.
  4. San Diego Padres - Peavy and Hoffman give you hope.
  5. San Francisco Giants - This is going to be a long year.

Next week, I'll discuss the playoffs and the World Series.
