THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO FROM SUE - SPRING IS UPON US – WELL SORT OF!
Sue Moss - General Manager, Manager of Unbeatable Service for Dean's Team CHICAGO!

Calling all Gardeners -- and those who have spring fever, like me, especially after this past Sunday's mild temperature!

The 2008 Chicagoland Flower and Garden Show kicks off this Saturday, March 8th, and runs through Sunday, March 16th, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.  Cost for admission is $12 weekdays/$14 weekends for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 12.  Plenty of parking is also available at $11 for any type of vehicle - car, van, or tour bus.

This 14th annual event will feature the following and more --

"Themed Gardens" showcasing top designers, horticulturists and landscapers.

A "Garden Marketplace" featuring 200 garden-related vendors.

A "Teaching Garden" for the novice and avid gardener alike.  There will be hands-on workshops provided as well as the new floral design workshops.

"Gardening Seminars" where you can pick up some great ideas from gardening professionals.

"Garden Gourmet" where culinary demonstrations will be provided by some of Chicago's top chefs.

Finally, included in the price of admission and in an adjacent hall, is the new "Home Lifestyle Expo" featuring do-it-yourself and other home improvement vendors.

Wait - the weekend is not over yet!  How many of you are Irish during March only?  Well, you can count me in as well.

This year, since St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) falls during Holy Week, some festivities will be held this weekend, such as ...

The Northside's 4th Annual Irish Music Festival -- Saturday, March 8th, 1:30 p.m. to Midnight at the Irish American Heritage Center (4626 N Knox, Chicago).  There will be tons of Family Fun to be had for a $5 donation with children under 12 Free.  The festivities will kick-off at 2:00 p.m. with local music from ten different Irish performers every hour.  And, don't worry if you don't know how to "jig" - FREE Irish dance lessons begin at 3:00 p.m. so there's no excuse not to have a good time!

A live petting zoo, pony rides and face painting will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the kids, as well as plenty of food & drink for all.  For more information, click here.

Wrap-up your weekend at the 30th Annual South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade at 103rd and Western Avenue on Sunday, March 9th, at Noon.  I've heard that this parade is the more boisterous one of the two parades sponsored by the City.  For more details, click here.

Need a ride from the North Side?  Check these out, prices & times vary -

Casey Moran's Bus (Wrigleyville)

Harrigan's Shuttle (Lincoln Park)

Mahoney's Pub & Grille Bus Trip (West Town)

The Trinity Bar Bus (Sheffield/DePaul)

Witt's Trolley (Lakeview)

Timothy O'Toole's Bus (Gold Coast)

By the way, since I'm only Irish during March, what advice can you offer so I don't turn GREEN come Monday morning!!!  Enjoy your weekend safely --
