ROGERS PARK
In September, the Morse Theatre will be reopened with the spirit of jazz. Currently due to it being abandoned and neglected, the theater is a shell of its old self.
Three devout music lovers made a hefty investment to refurbish and bring jazz and other acoustic music to an edgy neighborhood. Well, that's the plan.
These cultural entrepreneurs haven't conducted marketing polls or surveys to determine an audience. The Morse was opened as a silent-movie nickelodeon and vaudeville house in 1912. They believe that an attractive performance space and a separate casual-dining restaurant under the same roof can't miss. Learn more about their target and plans by clicking here.
GOLD COAST
Table Fifty-Two is one of the most anticipated recent openings.
"Come on in," bellows Art Smith, Oprah Winfrey's personal chef says to passersby.
"We're pretty drenched in sweat," one jogger replies.
"No, come on in!" Smith says. "You can sit at the bar yet there.'
The appealing interior has 13 tables and 5 counter seats with warm yellow walls and copper touches.
Sunday nights are what Smith calls Sunday Supper, serving a down-home, family-style menu with just four mains, three sides and three desserts. Deviled eggs, house-pickled green tomatoes slices, and warm goat cheese biscuits are crazy good added touches. Read all about it by clicking here.

No planes occupy the airline gates at Gary- Chicago International Airport. The seats in the terminals are empty, and the baggage carousel is motionless. The scene resembles a ghost town. The place is so dead that Gary-Chicago -- "GYY" in airport code -- has been rented out to filmmakers over the years.
Not able to compete with Chicago's two airports, Gary-Chicago, a busy air-cargo facility, has been forced to settle for an occasional cameo as a functioning passenger airport. There has been no routine passenger service at Gary since SkyValue USA ended all flights last year after five months of flying.
But the Indiana airport's boosters, who have long touted Gary-Chicago as the answer to the Chicago region's need for a third commercial airport, are once again preparing to get passenger service airborne. Read the entire article by clicking here.
