JEFF'S CHICAGO SPORTS BLOG - THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEEK TO MAKE HISTORY
TIME TO RECOGNIZE THE GREATNESS OF THE PATRIOTS
I know I typically blog on the topic of our beloved Chicago teams. However, I'm inclined to recognize the inevitable greatness of the 2007 New England Patriots and their pursuit of an undefeated season, which for the NFL 16-game regular season has never been achieved.
The only team to be undefeated in the regular season, 14-0, was the 1972 Miami Dolphins who went on to make it a perfect season, 17-0, and win the championship. As an avid football fan, it's special to see a team flirt with perfection and should the Patriots win tonight they are certainly the favorite to win the Super Bowl thus making them the first team to go 19-0 ever!
So, for all of us sports fans, tonight is history in the making and it becomes special since it's something we can relive as time passes. It's the old adage, I can tell my grandkids that I witnessed this special season. So even though I'm a die-hard Bears fan, here's a toast to a team seeking to make history!
