TIME TO PLAY THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - FROM SUE!
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!
If your Holidays found you stressed with no quality time to spend with your family or just relax, may I suggest --
It's FREE - the City will be bringing the playground inside this weekend, December 28th through December 30th, at McCormick Place (Halls A & B) for it's 2007 Holiday Sports Festival. What a great way to end 2007 after the few pounds I'm sure we've all gained this past week but won't admit to.
The various activities will take place daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Interactive Zones such as a tot's zone, an obstacle course, climbing walls, trampolines, golf, football, RCN Baseball pitching zone, open courts for volleyball and basketball (bring your own ball), tennis, badminton, skateboarding, and much, much more!
Tournaments for table tennis, volleyball, basketball and floor hockey are also being offered; however, sanctioned tournaments will require pre-registration and may require a nominal fee as well.
Several new areas of activities have been added this year one of which is the Chill Out Zone - no, not for those who have been naughty - for those of us who just want to relax, read or just kick back. Track & Field along with Wrestling are the new sports. Finally, by visiting the Chicago U.S.O.C. area, you can watch to see what happens as Chicago vies for the 2016 Olympics. Don't forget to register to win some great prizes.
There is definitely an activity for everyone, and I mean, everyone - young, old or disabled - to choose from. For more details, please click here.
Personally, I think I'll do a little Dancing, stroll over to the Adult Fitness Area and then high-tail it to the Chill Out Zone, although I would prefer a Spa Zone!!
Would you suggest I contact the Mayor and request a Spa Zone for next year? Let me know -- I'll need as much support as I can get to convince the Mayor.
Here's to Happy "Playing"!
BY THE WAY, New Year's Eve will be upon us this coming Monday, December 31st, so I thought I would provide a few ideas to continue spending time with the family.
For those families who wish to get away for the weekend but don't want to leave the area, check out what's going on at the CoCo Key Resorts in Rockford and Arlington Heights. They offer family packages. For details, click here.
Again, Navy Pier is a very popular spot all year round, so needless to say there will be family fun to be had on New Year's Eve at the Ronald McDonald New Year's Eve Bash. Click here for more information.
Finally, if comedy is your family's thing to do, ComedySportz located at the Chicago Center for Performing Arts will host a Family New Year's Eve Show at 6:00 p.m. For more details, and to purchase tickets, click here.
