THE HOLIDAYS ARE FAST APPROACHING! SOME HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS ABOUT TOWN, FROM JENNIFER!
It barely seems as if it can truly be December already, yet here we are. There are many fun festive and holiday events happening in and around the city this weekend. I thought I'd list them and give a brief description for you as I could not even narrow the list down to a few favorites. Bucktown Holiday Art Show, 9th annual
Holstien Park Fieldhouse

Come out December 8th and 9th, and find original gifts made by local and international artists. The crafts cover a wide range of items including but not limited to jewelry, paintings, ceramics, and textiles. You can purchase just the right holiday presents from big ticket to small budget items for everyone on your list.
Christkindlmarket
Daley Center Plaza
50 W, Washington St.
The annual market tradition is open all month and features a Nuremberg-like Christmas theme which dates back to the 16th century. Come out and enjoy the shopping, Santa's House, and winter wonderland atmosphere with your family, friends, and co-workers.
CTA Holiday Train
For the month of December through the 22nd (before Christmas) the CTA Holiday Train(s) will be running on random lines in the city. The Holiday Train has 6 cars plus a flatbed which holds Santa Claus and his reindeer! Santa and his elves will go to each car handing out candy canes to passengers and spreading some holiday cheer. The train is decorated with oversized garland, seasonal ornaments, and tons of lights.
The Holiday Train will travel all CTA rail lines this December as part of regular rail service. Normal CTA fares do still apply. The train operates from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select weekdays. The CTA Holiday Train will make stops at all stations along the given route.

The Evanston Art Center's 2007 Winter Arts and Crafts Expo

For the last five years running during the winter holiday season, the Evanston Art Center has presented a display and sale of the fine arts and crafts created by local artisans. Come on out and choose from many items to complete your holiday shopping.
Fannie May Free Chocolate Ferry
Madison & River to Michigan Ave
The Fannie May Free Chocolate Ferry offers complimentary rides and Fannie May Chocolate samples to passengers on the CWT on weekends through December 23. Holiday shoppers taking the Metra trains downtown have a delicious new way to get to Michigan Avenue. If all of that is not enough all passengers will receive a coupon for a free cup of Fannie May Hot Chocolate, redeemable at the Fannie May flagship store at Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive.
Winter Wonderfest
Navy Pier
Navy Pier is transforms itself into a winter wonderland featuring hundreds of decorated trees, sparkling holiday lights and other winter decorations. Have fun ice skating in the in-line skating rink, large-scale inflatable games, a bungee run and slides. Santa Claus and his elves listen to children's wishes at Santa's Holiday Village.
ZooLights
Lincoln Park Zoo
ZooLights is a free event from 5-9 p.m. that features more than one million holiday lights, a spectacular water laser show, live ice carving, Santa's workshop and of course, zoo animals! Come on out and be dazzled.
