THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO - HOLIDAY FUN FROM SUE!
IT'S TIME TO PLAY A LITTLE
Don't let the Holidays get you all frazzled with shopping, making cookies, wrapping gifts, decorating, etc., etc. Go out and have some "outdoor" fun with family and friends. There's a wide variety to choose from but here are a few to get you started.
The 26th Annual Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo located just outside of Chicago. This Chicagoland tradition runs every Saturday and Sunday from now until December 23rd, from 4:00PM to 9:00PM. It also runs from December 26th through December 31st. The walkways are adorned with millions of twinkling, brilliant colored lights. There's also a laser light show set to holiday classics as well as some of the old favorites - ice carvers, carolers, celebrity storytellers, magicians and hundreds of decorated community and corporate trees. For more details, click here.
Then there's ZooLights at Lincoln Park Zoo. This event is "free" and runs November 30th to December 2nd, and December 7th to December 9th, from 5:00PM to 9:00PM. It will also be open every day from December 14th through January 1st; however, they will be closed on December 24th and 25th while the animals enjoy their holidays in private. There's much to see and do here so click here for more details.
I highly recommend taking time to visit one or even both of the zoos for their holiday light spectaculars. It's truly a wonderful experience especially during this hectic time.
If you prefer to partake in daytime outdoor activities, here are a few choices -
Millennium Park Ice Rink for some invigorating exercise or plan ‘ole ice skating fun. More information can be found here.
Visit Christkindlmarket for a traditional German Christmas experience, which runs daily from 11:00AM to 4:00PM through December 24th at the Daley Plaza. For more info, visit here.
Santa's New House and the City of Chicago Christmas Tree located at Daley Plaza. This year's Christmas tree apparently features a new look both in color and ornaments. Read up on this year's tree statistics and history along with Santa's "workshop" hours here.
So, since this weekend promises to be cold and probably wet as well with some form of precipitation, I highly suggest you dig up your parka, boots, scarves, gloves, hats and ice skates, if you plan to skate, NOW! Don't miss out on these holiday outdoor opportunities. They make the Holidays even more special and a little less stressful!
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU ON WHAT YOU DO FOR SOME FUN AND RELAXATION DURING THE HOLIDAYS - BESIDES EATING AND DRINKING - BEEN THERE, AND STILL DOING THAT!!!
