JEFF'S CHICAGO SPORTS BLOG - REX STILL HAS THE BALL FOR THE CHICAGO BEARS!
QUARTERBACK REX GROSSMAN GETS ANOTHER CHANCE IN 2007!

Lovie Smith made the announcement earlier in the week that Rex Grossman would be the starting QB for the Chicago Bears when they face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Although this decision came amidst questions about the health of back-up QB Brian Griese, it makes you wonder if Rex had proved himself in practice despite not knowing if he'd every play again.
In an interview during the week, Grossman stated that he feels no pressure since he thought that he might never play again this season. What is interesting is that the Bears may feel that with Grossman at the helm they may be able to stretch the field and thus open up some lanes for the running game. Bears running back, Cedric Benson, is averaging just 3 yards per carry and that is simply not getting it done.
The Bears are in position to try and get back into the race since Green Bay and Detroit still have to play twice in the coming weeks and if the Bears can win in Seattle this weekend they would be in position to finish the season at 8-8 or 9-7 which just could give them a playoff berth.
Let's hope that Grossman can lead the Bears into the postseason and thus save the season that a couple of weeks ago looked lost forever. Go BEARS as they travel into Seattle, a tough place to play, and look to bring their record to .500 at 5-5. In a very mediocre NFC, with a win Sunday the Bears could be paving the road to another postseason appearance.
Do the Bears still have a chance to make the playoffs this year? Let me know what you think!
