If homeowner did live in the house, and used it as their primary residence, and can prove it, on the first day of January, 2006, they would be eligible for a Homeowners Exemption.  They can file a Certificate of Error, using the forms on the Cook County Treasurer Website to apply for a rebate of the exemption going back three years.

I'm guessing McVicker was under-assessed before - hence, the big jump!  Also, they may have applied a Homeowner Exemption before - if so, it no longer applies.

Larrabee actually went down - as did my own house, in the South Edgebrook Neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago, and four out of five of my investment condos on the North and Northwest Sides of the city.

Menard had a homeowners, seniors, and senior freeze exemption - freezing assessed value for older, lower-income home owners.  Hence the large drop there.
