JENNIFER'S "WHAT'S HAPPENING IN CHICAGO" BLOG - HAUNTING, HARVESTS, AND OTHER CHICAGO HAPPENINGS

Jennifer Garrity - Dean's Team Customer Service CoordinatorDON'T BE AFRAID!

Mid October is fast approaching.  Our weather has gone from Indian Summer to Fall practically overnight.  I welcome the cool breezes and the beautifully colored falling leaves.  Chicago scenery is amazing this time of year.   I offer a sad farewell to baseball and am all revved up for football.

When I think football, I also think parades.  This weekend go out and bring the family to the Columbus Day Parade.  It kicks off on Columbus from Balbo to Monroe on Saturday October 13, 2007 at 12:00 p.m..

The Chicago International Film Festival is also hosting many cinemas this weekend over various city locations.  This 2 week event will be end soon.  Be a part of the oldest North American film festival competitions, while being an audience to more than 100 International feature films, documentaries, and short stories.  They will entertain and inspire you.

In the "spirit" of fall harvesting pumpkins, apples, and squash, don't forget to stop by any or all of the fun Halloween festivities in and around Chicago this weekend.

There will be the Pumpkin Plaza at the Daley Center which will have a Haunted village, Midnight Circus, magicians, jugglers, ghost stories, and pumpkin decorating.

Of course there will be Navy Fear - Halloween at Navy Pier.  The entire family will love this attraction with its ghostly gardens, crafts, games, face painting, and storytelling.  Watch where you are going.  You may bump into the Navy Pier mascots Patch and Pickle, not to mention some of the demons of the deep haunted house, which will be lurking around where you least expect them.   BOO!

Further north in Libertyville, join in on the fun at Haunted Harvest at Lambs Farm.  This is their 3rd annual spooky celebration and will be an adventure and thrill for all ages.  Take a shot in the miniature golf graveyard, or a stroll on the creature walk through the darkened farmyard.  Ride the train of terror or enchanted carousel, and then stop by for a trick or treat at the Cauldron Cafe.

Happy hauntings!

IF YOU'VE GOT A MINUTE OR TWO, I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE HAUNTS!
