IWONA'S "IN THE KITCHEN" BLOG – MMMM CHOCOLATE!

 CHOCOLATE FRUIT CRUMBLE

Iwona Filipiak - Dean's Team Listings Specialist - June 13, 2007Recipe Summary

Difficulty: Easy

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 40-45 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:

6 tbsp butter, plus extra for greasing

14 oz/400 g canned apricots, in natural juice

1 lb/450 g cooking apples, peeled and thickly sliced

Scant 2/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup rolled oats

4 tbsp superfine sugar

Generous 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 180C/350. Grease an oven-proof dish with a little butter

Drain the apricots, leaving 4 tablespoons of the juice.  Place the apples and apricots in the prepared oven-proof dish with the reserved apricot juice and toss to mix thoroughly.

Sift the flour into a large bowl.  Cut the butter into small cubes and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs.  Stir in the rolled oats, superfine sugar, and chocolate chips.

Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples and apricots and level the top roughly.  Do not press crumble down onto the fruits.  Bake in the oven for 40 - 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden.  Serve the crumble hot or cold.
