KATHY’S “HOME & GARDEN” BLOG - OUR OWN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
RAINING AGAIN???????? With all the rain we've been having lately, I know it's been hard to get lawn work accomplished. If you can't cut the grass because of weather and it gets too long just cut it two times. To keep your lawn a lush green, you shouldn't cut more than a third of the length at a time. You can wait until next month to fertilize. With all this rain the last thing you want is the grass growing anymore.
Remember to check everywhere for standing water to prevent mosquito eggs from hatching and growing into disease-carrying, biting mosquitoes. Always wear insect repellant when you go outside, especially in the evening.
This might be a good time to also replace your sunscreen. Recent reports on the news tell us sunscreen manufacturers have, for many years, misstated the potency of their products. The high numbers (25, 35, 45+, etc.) tend to be off considerably. Thankfully, new regulations will standardize sunscreen strength. It's always a good idea to replace your sunscreen yearly to be safe.
