MY FALL PASSION - FANTASY FOOTBALL!
Are you a fantasy football player? It's that time of year where magazine upon magazine comes out telling the fantasy player world who to pick and what strategy to utilize for success. The NFL season begins on Thursday, September 7 with a night game so; thousands of drafts will take place in the next two weeks.
The explosion of fantasy football has been unbelievable! I can remember the late 1980's when some people were involved in fantasy leagues but it seemed more like a hobby then compared to a way of life for so many fans. The intrigue has led to numerous magazines, websites and analysts. Football programs and pre-game shows now devote significant portions of their agenda discussing fantasy stats and who you'll want to play for that given week.
It's exciting to draft and makes for a terrific five hours of imagination and passion for a great game. Football has always enjoyed a storied past which now has been enriched with the fantasy experience.
If you're drafting in the next couple of weeks, good luck. Here's a little secret: LaDainian Tomlinson is the best running back on the board and watch out for Carson Palmer this year as he lights up the sky! As a lifelong Bears fan, I certainly hope that Cedric Benson can be an elite back for the Bears as well as my fantasy team.
