LIL' BUDDY'S BLOG - A CUBS/RED SOX WORLD SERIES?

THE CHICAGO REAL ESTATE MARKET, AND OTHER THINGS CHICAGO, FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF A LITTLE WHITE DOG!

Buddy Holly Moss Roots for the Boston Red Sox - August, 2007

I'm a bit late on this week's blog, folks!   Sorry!

Thursday afternoon's weather was scary, and DANGEROUS, wasn't it?  I never saw so many old trees blown down.   I'm glad not too many of my four-pawed colleagues got hurt, and all of their two-pawed companions made it out OK.  Took me a little extra time to get back to the office with all the slow traffic.

Last weekend, Dean's Team Members (and my Designated Human Beings) Dean and Sue took me Back East, to Boston.  After we "Paaked the Caaa in Haavaad Yaad," we had some lunch (although those old-fashioned Boston Baked Beans don't really do well for Lil' White Dogs, if you know what I'm trying to say), and headed to Fenway Park.  Here, we caught a Boston Red Sox come-from-behind victory last Saturday night versus the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  Grrrr . . . that Curt Schilling sure can pitch.  Great time - and if you think Chicago Cub fans are crazy, wait til you see 'em in Boston!

And ticket prices - woof!  Even my dog-sized bleacher seat set me back over 100 bones!

We spent a lot of time hanging with our local hosts, Mary and Norman O'Grady, and their daughter, Amanda.  Norman owns Prime Realty Group in Brighton, a neighborhood in the City of Boston, much like Lincoln Square and Rogers Park are neighborhoods here in Chicago.  What a great time he showed us all while we're in town - especially when he treated us to a delicious steak dinner at the locally-famous Stockyard Restaurant, right in Brighton!  We also enjoyed a traditional Irish Breakfast at The Boyne  (although I stayed away from the Bushmill's Whiskey - forgot my ID anyway!)

Norm is a neighborhood real estate professional, and serves his neighborhood with great passion and skill.  As he was walking me down Market Street (met a couple of cute Irish Setters, by the way, but they were involved with other dogs), I was impressed by how many neighbors and business people he knows, how they respect his help and leadership in their community, and how they are very grateful for his real estate skill.  Norm contributes backpacks to local schools, offers high school scholarships, is a big supporter of the fight against cancer, gets involved with local churches, civic organizations, and the Y, is a respected little-league baseball coach, and often participates and helps plan local parades, gatherings, and other community events.  Our Team of two dogs, a couple of fish, and six humans can learn a lot from Norm's approach to real estate!

Mary is an Accredited Staging Professional, and helps stage houses to sell throughout the Brighton, MA area.  Many of Norm's listings are professionally staged by his wife, Mary.

After some discussion and planning, our Fearless Leader, and my Daddy, Dean, plans to increase our involvement in the local community.  Here in Chicago, that means a number of neighborhoods, from Lincoln Square to Edgebrook, and several suburban communities as well.    The Team assigned me, Buddy Holly Moss,  the task of spotlighting different Chicago Neighborhoods - watch this dog's weekly blog for more information.

Norm and Mary, thanks for the wisdom, the inspiration, and the hospitality!  One day, maybe one day soon, we'll see our Cubs play your Red Sox in a World Series - you never know (be still my beating little heart!)

HOW CAN WE HELP LOCALLY?  Please let us know!   We're here for you.

YOUR ACE REPORTER ON FOUR PAWS,

BUDDY HOLLY MOSS
