JEFF'S SPORTS BLOG - HERE COME YOUR 2007 CHICAGO BEARS!
A TRUE CHICAGO SPORTS BLOG, FROM A TRUE CHICAGO SPORTS FAN!

Bear fans are pumped as the Chicago Bears beat the Houston Texans 20-19 last night. A Robbie Gould field goal with 36 seconds left in the game made the difference. Rex Grossman was accurate with limited playing time, completing 8 of 10 passes for 50 yards. New Bears Defensive Coordinator Bob Babich showed his more aggressive style of defense, running blitzes from the start of the game.
In an interview on the Score radio station - 670 AM, Hub Arkush, Editor of Pro Football Weekly, says the Bears look impressive and at this moment have to be the team to beat in the NFC once again. He is concerned how the Bears would handle the San Diego Chargers in Week One of the season but then sees the Bears winning the next five to six games on the schedule.
Each Bears fan has to be excited about an offense that does look very promising. Rex Grossman is poised to have a great year and now has the weapons at receiver and tight end to really spread the field. The emergence of Cedric Benson who will be a tough inside runner and play full-time behind a veteran offensive line will allow the Bears to have a balanced attack and control time of possession. The possibilities that Greg Olsen at tight end and Devin Hester at wideout give the Bears speed that will certainly concern many opposing defenses.
The defense figures to be just as dominant, although the schedule the Bears face this year is much more difficult. They are getting a healthy Tommie Harris back and added defensive tackle, Darwin Walker in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. With a healthy Mike Brown being moved to free safety and the addition of hard-hitting Adam Archuleta to Strong Safety, the secondary figures to be the best it has been in recent memory. Also, we certainly can't forget the Pro-Bowl play of linebackers, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs.
Top all of the above with a strong special teams unit including the explosive Devin Hester and the accurate kicking of Robbie Gould and the Bears have the makeup of a championship team that has tasted the Super Bowl "Dinner" but haven't enjoyed the "
Dessert".
What are your thoughts on the 2007 Chicago Bears? Will we return to the Super Bowl? Let me know!
