KATHY’S HOME AND GARDEN BLOG – EASY SLOW COOKER RECIPES

HERE ARE A FEW SCRUMPTIOUS, EASY-TO-PREPARE RECIPES FROM KATHY!

Kathleen Weaver Zech - Dean's Team Director of Buyers Agency Services

Yes, it’s hot. Yes, you are super busy. Your Mom’s slow cooker is a good way

to have a home-cooked meal, with a minimum of effort during the week.

BBQ Beef Sandwiches

Place a three pound boneless chuck roast in the slow cooker. Top with a cup

of your favorite BBQ sauce. Cook on low 8-9 hours. Remove beef, shred with

two forks. Combine shredded beef with one cup of the sauce from the cooker.

Place on warmed rolls, serve with cole slaw or salad.

Italian Sausage With Sauce

Brown six Italian Sausage in a skillet. Cut into inch and a half pieces and place

in the slow cooker. Slice a large green pepper and onion into strips. Add to the

sausage. Cover with your favorite bottled spaghetti or marinara sauce. Cook

on low 6-7 hours. Serve on French rolls.

Red Beans and Rice with Smoked Sausage

Place one 16oz. Package dried red beans and 2 ½ cups water in the slow

cooker. Add one pound sliced smoked sausage, one small onion diced, ten

drops hot sauce and 1/8 tsp. black pepper. Cook 7-8 hours until beans are

    tender. Serve over rice.

Chicken Breasts

The famous Chicken and canned soup recipes are great in the slow cooker.

season boneless breasts with pepper and garlic powder(there’s enough salt

In the soup.) Top with two cans Cream Soup. Combine cheese and chicken

soup or even celery or mushroom. Cook 6-8 hours, until breasts register

160 degrees on an instant read thermometer. Serve over pasta or rice. A

Little squirt of lemon will brighten up the flavor.

Got a favorite, easy summertime recipe you would like to share?  Please let me know.
