SUE'S "WHAT'S HAPPENING!" IN CHICAGO BLOG - IT'S THE FOURTH OF JULY!
HERE'S "WHAT'S HAPPENING!" THIS WEEKEND, AND FOR THE 4TH OF JULY, IN AND AROUND CHICAGO!

Wow! We can't believe over one-half of 2007 is over! On the Fourth of July, this coming Wednesday, our Team distributes nearly 1,000 American Flags throughout several neighborhoods on the North Side of Chicago. Need a small American Flag for your front lawn? Let us know and we'll try to get you one, subject to availability.
Are you hungry? I hope you have an appetite, and a big one at that, since several food festivals in the Chicago land area will be offering a variety to eat this weekend, and in some cases, right through next week.
Let's start with the granddaddy of them all, the 27th Annual Taste of Chicago. This food fest has more than 70 restaurants serving up a wide variety of food samples from hot dogs to haute cuisine. Live music and many more activities will be provided as well so you can digest in between your samplings. This eating orgy begins on Friday, June 29th, and runs right on through Sunday, July 8th, at Grant Park, on the Lake in Downtown Chicago.
If going to Grant Park isn't your cup of tea, how about heading out west to the Naperville Exchange Club Ribfest located at Knoch Park - 700 S. West Street, in Naperville, IL. They have an awesome line-up of live musical entertainment on two stages which includes such 1970's superstar acts as The Grassroots on June 30th, Blue Oyster Cult on July 1st, Heart on July 3rd, and the Marshall Tucker Band on July 4th. Of course fireworks will be provided at 9:30 p.m. on the 4th with free admission for all after 6:00 p.m.! Admission is $10 and free for kids 11 and under. This fest opens on Saturday, June 30th, right on through Wednesday, July 4th.
On an even smaller scale, from Friday, June 29th, to Sunday, July 1st, visit the 7th Annual Jeff Fest located at 4850 N. Milwaukee Avenue. This is a community celebration consisting of food, beer, wine, arts & crafts, kiddie activities and live musical entertainment by the 10,000 Maniacs, Elevation and The Mauds. There is a $5 donation which benefits the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce.
Don't forget to see your fireworks for this 4th of July holiday, here are a few - Chicago's lakefront and Grant Park, July 3rd; Evanston Clark Street Beach, July 4th, 9:15 p.m.; Oak Park River Forest High School, July 4th at dusk; Glencoe Beach (Park Avenue & Lake Michigan), July 4th, 9:00 p.m.; and, of course, Naperville Knoch Park, July 4th.
Hey, what are YOU doing for the Fourth of July? Let us know, and we'll be sure to pass your ideas along!
Have a Happy and Safe Fourth!
