KATHY'S HOME & GARDEN BLOG - EVERYDAY USES FOR VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA!

TIPS AND HELPFUL HINTS FOR AROUND YOUR HOME AND IN YOUR GARDEN!

Kathleen Weaver Zech - Dean's Team Director of Buyers Agency Services

These two natural products are safe and effective for cleaning and deodorizing -

Vinegar

  1.  1 part vinegar and 4 parts water will take care of soapy residue on ceramic tile.
  2. 2 or 3 tablespoons in gallon of cool, clear water is the solution of choice for professional  window washers.
  3. Run a solution of equal parts vinegar and water through your coffee maker monthly. Follow up with a clean pot of water to rinse.
  4. ½ a cup of vinegar and a gallon of water is an excellent cleaner for vinyl floors.
  5. Toss a cupful down the drain, let sit one hour, then run hot water. This is a great deodorizer.

Baking Soda

Another great drain deodorizer!  Pour ½ cup in the drain followed by hot water.

  1. Baking Soda is a gentle scouring powder. Use on your kitchen and bathroom fixtures.
  2. Removes odors and stains from the interior of your refrigerator.
  3. Deodorize kitty litter pans.
  4. It works well as carpet deodorizer. Sprinkle on and vacuum.
  5. And of course the old standby, an open box in the fridge and freezer neutralizes odors.
