Edison Park Overview
Considering Edison Park homes for sale will put you directly in the first "Electric Suburb" of Chicago!
Edison Park is located on the northwest side of Chicago. The CTA Blue Line runs through the neighborhood and Metra has a stop here, too. The Kennedy Expressway is easily accessible, and a trip to O’Hare is only minutes away.
As the name might imply, the neighborhood is named after Thomas Alva Edison, and he consented to the neighborhood title in 1890. Because Edison Park was one of the first neighborhoods in Chicago to install electric streetlights (at 6 major intersections), the name is most fitting.
Edison Park Homes for Sale
There is a large selection of Edison Park homes for sale. These include bungalows, condos, and also single-family homes of new construction. Edison Park residents are served by elementary schools which were rated among the area’s best by Chicago Magazine in 2005.
Things to Do in Edison Park
Edison Park's restaurant row rivals even the best restaurants of Downtown Chicago. Many of these restaurants are located on Northwest Highway in “downtown” Edison Park and people from all over Chicagoland patronize the restaurants in Edison Park for fine global cuisine.
Edison Park offers its youth a field house and playground. There are also many educational and social programs being offered at the park year-round for both adults and children. The Edison Park Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Edison Park Fest which is usually held in late summer. A “Taste of the Northwest Side", Edison Park Fest also showcases local bands and a variety of merchant sidewalk sales, a parade, and several arts and crafts booths.
